How do you develop that belief?
Write down your best 3-5 Go-To Moves in each position, for example:
Drill, Drill, Drill
If coach gives you 5 minutes to work on a move
--- sense the urgency
Make sure that you and your partner hit that move at least 10 times each in those 5 minutes. Hit the moves properly and with precision. This builds muscle memory for you and your partner.

- "Ben Askren did a study of NCAA champs.
- One thing they all had in common is that they each believed they possessed some skill better than anyone they wrestled.
- It may or may not have been true but each believed it."
How do you develop that belief?
Write down your best 3-5 Go-To Moves in each position, for example:
- From bottom: Sit-out to hip heist. Stand-up to hand fighting on the hips. Hip smash, to wrist control, to Pederson
- From top: Leg-ride to power-half, to Turk, Claw Ride, to Wrist Control, to arm-bar tilt.
- From neutral: underhook, to inside trip, to half-nelson. Elbow-pass, to high-crotch, to double leg. Sprawl to cement mixer
Drill, Drill, Drill

- Drill the moves
- Perfect the moves
Defense, & Chain Wrestling
But, perfecting your Go-To Moves isn't enough! Why is that?
--- Your opponent will try and counter any move you hit
--- Wrestling never stops
So, you also need to focus on doing two additional things:
Good defense for each position --- what to do if moves doesn’t work?
Since wrestling never stops:
--- Your opponent will try and counter any move you hit

So, you also need to focus on doing two additional things:
Good defense for each position --- what to do if moves doesn’t work?
- Hard Sprawling in neutral
- Circling out of a bad shot in neutral
- Hip control and hard riding on top (watch college wrestling for this. They ride hard, because they get a "riding time point")
- Building a base & Hip movement on bottom
- Bridging and punching through if you get put on your back
Since wrestling never stops:
- Chain Wrestle
- Learn how to perform multiple moves with no break in between
- Learn to maintain or gain control as you flow between each of the moves (not getting rolled through)
