Spring Wrestling
Wrestling in the spring at the Utah tournaments is a lot of fun, and gives wrestlers a chance to wrestle against good competition. The six minutes on the mat are tough (of course), but the cross-team camaraderie and wrestling brotherhood/sisterhood is more in focus after the matches than when wrestling in-state rival high-schools during the winter.
Definitely prepare for and wrestle in the state freestyle and greco tournaments. That has a big tournament feel and provides a good measuring stick for where you are at as a wrestler. If you are able, attend a tournament outside of Utah (Pocatello for example). These are more competitive and you face an even tough group of kids. But, as with the smaller Utah weekend tournaments, you'll find a nice atmosphere in which to hone your skills .

Wrestle Freestyle & Greco-Roman (and some Folkstyle) in the Spring
There are tournaments almost every weekend in the spring, so no stress about missing one tournament, just go to the next one.
Once you've done it once, it's easy to sign-up on trackwrestling (www.trackwrestling.com/) and the cost per tournament is relatively small.
Weigh-ins are at your Club’s practice on Thursday nights, but it’s not about cutting weight as most are wrestling stay at their natural weight. So --- no stress, just wrestling against top opponents and having some fun.
At the weekend tournaments, they typically offer Greco-Roman (upper-body attacks only) on Friday night, followed by Folkstyle and Freestyle on Saturdays.
