Summer Wrestling Camps

Summer camps help wrestlers in their off-season preparations & are a fun experience.

1st Choice is the Copper Hills Summer Wrestling Camp -- we'll post details as these are solidified.

Which Wrestling Camp?

Which camp you choose is less important than your learning goals at that camp (see notes below)!!!
For reference purposes, we’ll list a few camps below where Copper Hills wrestlers have had good success

Why a Wrestling Camp?

Why go to a wrestling camp - beyond the Copper Hills Summer Wrestling Camp?

– To change your game as a wrestler.  This means two things:
  • Go to camp with a game plan  --> what do I want to improve on at Camp --- what will change My Game!
  • Your learning goals are the focus at the camp - not which camp you choose

Always include the goals to improve your:
  • mental preparation
  • mental toughness

Determine technique goals by analyzing these 4 questions (for individual matches or for the season). Answering these questions will help you determine what to improve on for you offense and for your defense:
  • Where did I score?
  • Where did I almost score?
  • Where did my opponent score?
  • Where did my opponent almost score?

Build your Technique Goals to improve your game & build your wrestling IQ:
  • How to ride guys on top by controlling opponents’ hips --> not getting reversed
  • How to turn opponents for back points
  • How to get back points & work for pins without getting reversed from that power position
  • How to get the 1st take-down (and any take-down throughout the match)
  • How to escape from bottom / move on bottom / not get turned on bottom

And choose Personal Wrestling Goals:
  • I want to be varsity
  • I want to place in the top 3 at in the state tournament
  • I want to place at JV State

AND ---- Tell everybody about your goals.
You should be proud of where you are and confident in where you want to go!!!
